Both personal responsibility and contribution to the team are important values for the SSS organization. We function as an effective team because of the volunteer help of every parent/family. Without it, the team would not run efficiently or remain financially viable. Furthermore, with parents involved, swimmers feel supported!
There are many diverse and interesting opportunities to fill the required volunteer hours. To sustain the organization, we need every job filled for continued success.. Sometimes we request specific volunteer needs by sending out an email, but there are many job to do on a regular and/or scheduled basis that you can sign up for in advance.
Team parents make a swim club run smoothly, and there are many diverse and interesting job opportunities to fill you volunteer hours commitment. To sign-up for jobs throughout the year, go to the "Meets & Events" calendar on the SSS website. Just click on "Job Sign-up" and log in to your swimtopia account to sign-up for shifts. We need every job filled for the Sebastopol Sea Serpents’ excellence to continue.
A great way to meet your volunteer hour commitment and to learn about the sport of swimming is to become a stroke and turn judge. Many meets require teams to provide one judge for every 15 swimmers in the meet – or the team cannot score. Please, please, please consider becoming a stroke and turn judge.
SSS requires each family to volunteer at least three hours per month OR to pay the monetary equivalent (at $20 per hour per family) to off set the loss of volunteer time.
Volunteer hours are accounted for semi-annually (September through February and March through August). At the end of each accounting period, families who have not fulfilled their hours in the half year will be charged $20 per hour of the unfulfilled volunteer requirement.
