Practices
The SSS training groups are designed to provide stoke technique, cardiovascular and muscular conditioning that is appropriate for each swimmers experience, skill level, age, and abilities. Swimmers progress at their individual pace as they advance through the levels.
Pre-Team
Pre-Team is the introductory program to the team. Swimmers learn correct body position, kicking, arm-circles, deep water safety, and are working towards side-breathing freestyle and backstroke. This group is perfect for a child who has had some lessons and loves to swim.
- To join, swimmers must be able to swim across the small pool at Ives.
- This group swims 2 days/week during the school year. During summer, this group swims mornings at 9:15 or 9:30 in the small pool.
- Sessions are limited to 16 swimmers.
Junior Serpents
Junior Serpents is the introductory program to the team. Swimmers are working towards side-breathing freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, basic water safety, and team building games and relays. This group is perfect for a child who has had some lessons (levels 3 - 5) and loves to swim.
- To join, swimmers must be able to swim across the 25-yard pool at Ives.
- This group swims 3 days per week.
- Sessions are limited to 16 swimmers.
