Fundraising
Sebastopol Sea Serpents conducts special fundraising activities to supplement the budget and to keep swim fees at a reasonable price. Family cooperation will make each fundraising event become a success.
The swimmers have committed a part of their time to swim practice and meets. Parents also need to commit to helping the team function. A swim team is only as great as the families involved. Without the support of every family, we cannot run our team at the level of greatness desired.
Here's a few examples fundraisers SSS runs annually:
- Business Sponsorship Drive: Local businesses can sponsor the team at a variety of levels. Sponsorship funds are used to pay for pool rental, scholarships, and registration. Business sponsors have the option to advertise on the team website, team shirts, social media and sponsor banners at the pool
- Alumni Sponsorship Drive: Through our GoFundMe campaign page, SSS solicits donations from former Sea Serpents. Alumni sponsors help preserve the history and legacy of the organization, creating a sense of tradition that enhances community spirit and encourages future generations to participate.
- Swim 4 Funds: Swimmers of all ages gather pledges and are challenged to swim as many laps as possible in 1 or 2 hours (based on practice group). Swimmers can earn team merchandise prizes based on their total fundraising amount raised. Swim 4 Funds encourages swimmers to challenge themselves while engaging with supporters, creating a fun and motivating atmosphere.
- SSS Hosted Swim Meets: All swim meets hosted at Ives Pool can also act as fundraisers, as visiting teams pay registration, facility and entry fees. The team can also profit from concessions and boost advertising for our annual business and alumni sponsors.
- Community Grants: SSS applies for grants from local government, private foundations, and sports associations dedicated to youth sports funding.
- Bake Sales: SSS participates in bake-sales allowing team members to engage directly with community members and promote the team. Visibilty of the team in the community strengthens community ties, promotes team spirit, and generates interest in the team by attracting potential new team members.
